What is Social Security Medicare Program?
Medicare is a federally funded program administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Medicare is our country’s federal health insurance program for people age 65 or older. The Social Security Administration (SSA) processes your application and provides general information about the Medicare program.
Who is eligible for Social Security Medicare Program?
To be eligible for this benefit program you must meet one of the following requirements:
- Are age 65 or older.
- Receive Social Security Disability benefits.
- Have certain disabilities or permanent kidney failure (even if under age 65).
If you would like to find out if you may be eligible for any of Social Security’s benefit programs, take the U.S. Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Benefit Eligibility Screening Tool.
Once you have completed the eligibility screening questionnaire, you will be provided with a list of benefits for which you may be eligible. Print this page for your records before going to the application site.
